After Dark - Murakami Haruki

Image
This is not recently read book, but I did read it this year. SInce I’ve got a few Murakami books in my reading queue I might as well make use of the tag… 😋 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I gave this book 3 stars, but as in 3.5 stars… it was a short weird story. Here some review/summary of it. It was originaly written in spanish, so I’ll leave the spanish version at the bottom. Time flows slower after the sun has set. This book story happens in one night, a weird night, but maybe all nights are this strange but one’s never there to witness its anomalies. In this story we’re with the author, and together we’re a bodiless being that overflies a handfull of people in Tokyo City. We watch them go about in their nightly doings and interactions. Everybody bears no apparent relation to one another, but at the same time, the night unites them all... I liked the book, but there were some items missing that I would’ve like the author to elaborate on, but over all a good unexpected book. ** SPANISH VERSION ** El tiempo

The Sense of an Ending - Julian Barnes

This book was nothing like the kind of books I normally read. It was good, but not amazing, not for me at least. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I gave it 3 stars… just plain 3. It was a good story, with lots of symbols I guess… but I’m at a stage where I like straightforward stories.. and this was not one of them. There might be spoilers ahead, so be warned. ** Spoilers ** This book talks about the life-long-story of Anthony Webster, Veronica Ford and Adrian Finn. Anthony or Tony, is the main character and the one’s point of view from where we see the story unfold, he had some friends at school and when a new very smart new student arrived to the class they turned their 3 man group in a 4 man group, the new addition was Adrian Finn. They all had very profound kind of talks, but Adrian was known to be the most mature of them all. Later in life when they were all off to college, they separated and Tony found a girlfriend, Veronica, with whom he dated some years and later fell out of love. But to his surprise, s

Farewell Party Decoration

It has been a while… 😅 I’ve had a lot of work lately, which is good but keeps me from doing the stuff that I like (this included haha), so anyway… about maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago I had a small gathering at my house with my friends from the Book Club, and no, it was not about books, it was a farewell party for a friend who’s going back to her house in Spain. This won’t be a long written post, I’d like to show you how the party decorations went, because I love to do that! With the help of my book club friends, we made the following items: Suitcase Candy Box Farewell Banner Pompom Banner Polaroid Message Table Here are some pictures from the party. I really liked how the party went, and the decoration as well. I hope I can do more stuff like this later. I’ll write about it when it happens again.

Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo

This book, OMG this book!! I’ve been wanting to read this book ever since I read about it on Goodreads (I think it was GoodReads), basically it said the book was about an impossible heist attempted by a bunch of people that did not get along… it got me! I love group dinamics, complicated characters and relationships, I love action, I love fantasy, and it basically promissed all the the things I look for in a book!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This review will be a little shorter than the previous ones I’ve made, but it may contain spoilers so, be warned! ** Some Spoilers Ahead ** At the beginning of the book we’re introduced to a drug called jurda that helps workers, guards, etc, to endure while long shifts of work, but instead of the harmless one, we see people experimenting on grisha with an enhanced variation of the drug called jurda parem, which basically makes their powers more potent, much more potent, so it can only be used by them and not regular people. Apparently, the Six of Crows bo

My Sister’s Grave - Robert Dugoni

Long time no see! I’ll try to be brief with this one, because it’s taking me very long to write reviews/summary and I’ve been reading more books than the ones I write about! The book name is My Sister’s Grave written by Robert Dugoni, and it is the first one of the series of Detective Tracy Crosswhite’s stories? cases? ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads, but is more like 3.5 stars… but I don’t feel like giving it 4 that means 3.5…. you know what I mean? Anyway, 3.5 Stars! The book was very very intriguing, I read it so fast, like in 2 days because I couldn’t put it down, but in the end the story was not so good for me… it didn’t hold water (lol) *** SPOILERS AHEAD *** The beginning to this story is pretty straightforward we’re introduced to Tracy Crosswhite who is a detective in Seattle, and she’s told some human remains were found on a small town nearby. (Obviously, this is important…) Later we’re told that Tracy had a sister that desapeared 20 years ago a
